International Horticultural Exposition holds news conference

110 plus media from home and abroad participate

On the afternoon of 12 th March, more than 110 media from home and abroad assembled at Diaoyutai State Guests Hotel to listen to an inspiring news that it has been approved in the 56 th conference of AIPH that China Shenyang International Horticultural Exposition 2006 organized by the People's Government of Shenyang and sponsored by People's Government of Liaoning Province, Ministry of Construction of PRC, Ministry of Commerce of PRC, China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) and China Flowers Association, etc. will be held in Shenyang Qipanshan International Scenery and Tourism Holiday Resort during 1 st May-31 st Oct 2006. This is one of the three bashes held by China at the beginning of this century that is eponymous with 2008 Beijing Olympics Games and 2010 Shanghai Expo. The organizing committee sincerely invites tourists home and abroad through media present at the conference to come to Shenyang in 2006 and see the world.

Wan Jifei, Chairman of China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT), Chen Xiaoli, Chief planner from Ministry of Construction of PRC, Zhao Guanghua, vice-chairman of China Flowers Association and Lu Jianhua, Director from Ministry of Commerce of PRC were presented in the news conference and delivered speeches respectively. Chen Zhenggao, Mayor of Shenyang addressed in the conference.

International Horticultural Exposition is a worldwide gathering approved by international organization. Shenyang International Horticultural Exposition is located in Shenyang Qipanshan International Scenery and Tourism Holiday Resort, 14 kilometers from the center of the city. The expo site is surrounded with rolling hills. Thick forest, lake and island make beautiful scenery there. It fully embodies the simplicity, honest, fairness and boldness of the city, which all previous international and domestic Expo cannot comparable with. The theme of Shenyang International Horticultural Exposition is the harmonious coexistence of human and nature. At present, the investment and exhibition invitation work has been basically completed for the Expo. 50 cities including Beijing, Shanghai, Tianjin and Chongqing, etc. and 20 countries including U.S., Holland and Italy, etc has confirmed to participate the exhibition and has signed the agreement. The construction work of the Expo has started all-roundly. All the exhibition gardens and main engineering of key architectures will have been completed before 1 st Oct this year. All-round renovation and construction has been undertaken related to the urban environment, water system and road to airport so on to cooperate with the organization of Shenyang International Horticultural Exposition.

Wan Jifei, Chen Xiaoli, Zhao Guanghua and Lu Jianhua all offered their congratulations in the speeches on Shenyang's successful application for holding the international Expo and gave positive words to the preparation of the Expo and expressed that they would concert efforts and cooperate to make a good job of the Expo together with Shenyang.

Chen Zhengao emphasized in his address that Shenyang will not only successfully hold the International Expo next year, but also exceed all the previous Expos from aspects of general scale, level, participated countries and regions and number of visitors, etc.

He expressed his sincere acknowledgement to the presented leaders, guests for their concern and support of Shenyang International Horticultural Exposition on behalf of the municipal committee, municipal government and 7.2 million citizens. He said that the construction work of the Expo has started all-roundly now. We are creating an International Expo with unique Chinese northern features and assembling the essence of horticulture domestically and internationally and incorporating art, view and entertainment. The first session of the organizing committee that just ended will also further accelerate the progress of the work. During the progress of revitalizing the northeast industrial base, Shenyang catches the eyeball of investors from home and abroad and now is becoming a hotspot for new investment domestically. We believe that with the aborative guidance from sponsors and strong support from friends home and abroad, Shenyang people will not let down the expectation of everybody and hold the Expo to be most successful, most memorable and splendid. Shenyang will write her name in the history of International Horticulture Expo forever.

Principals from related ministries and committees of the state and leaders from provincial related departments and some foreign envoys stationed in China were presented in the conference.
