A Historically and Culturally Famous City of China
¡¡¡¡Shenyang is a historically and culturally famous city of China, now there are more than 1100 aboveground and underground historic sites. Shenyang is located on the north bank of HunheRiver (called Shenshui in the ancient times), hence the name Shenyang. According to research at Xinle Relics, early in 7200 years ago, the ancestors of Shenyang people lived and procreated here. Since 300 B.C. (the 12th year of Yan Zhao Emperor), senior general Qin Kai was dispatched here by Yan state for stationing troops to guard the frontier, and Houcheng town was established then, it has been 2300 years since establishment of Shenyang. Shenyng always enjoys the title of ¡°the birthplace of one dynasty and the ancient capital of two monarchs¡±. In 1625, Qing Taizu Nurhachi moved its capital here, and here was renamed Shengjing. In 1636, Huangtaiji changed title of the reigning dynasty into Qing, and the Qing Dynasty was established. In 1644, after Qing forces entered gate of the Great Wall and decided on Beijing as its capital, Shenjing was changed into auxiliary capital. Fengtianfu was set up in 1651. In 1945, after victory of War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, the name of Shenyang was resumed.
